Anarcrust cover

Artist: Anarcrust
Album: Coalescence
Source: Vinyl 12" LP
Bitrate: V0 VBR
Running time (h:m:s): 00:19:24
Size (mb): 35.4
Label: Psylo (defunct)
Year: 1990

1. One Way To Death
2. Blue Eyes
3. The Thirst, The Pain
4. Pushed
5. They Try To Force Me
6. Express Your Feelings
7. Ni-Hau
8. Trapped

With a name like Anarcrust, what were you expecting? Actually, these Dutch punk stoners are a lot more complex than you might be led to believe. Yes it's intense, yes it's raging, but there are tempo changes aplenty and some mean talent behind the instruments, creating something a lot more ear-catching than the usual grindy offerings. It's still nice and shouty though, and not necessarily the first thing you'd associate with enthusiatic recreational drug use.

Anarcrust booklet cover

This was the first of only two studio albums, and they didn't release much else. whispered into existence has uploaded a great rip of one of their 7"'s and has written a bit more about 'em, so check it out.

OP's opinion: Four

Thanks for this one...I used to trade records with one of the guys in the band. I really enjoyed this LP when he sent it to me. I think that one of my former roomates "borrowed" it and never returned it. You really made this not so old, but rapidly aging, punk feel really happy!!

  • Thanks for the upload (& foremost for the kind words) - true to your promise! A question now: how do you get around scanning an LP cover? They don't fit in the scanner where I work, & digital photos don't work out all that well due to the geometry effects...

  • I use my digital camera (Powershot A630 if you want to know). I put the cover on the ground and stand above it, then zoom in a bit so it nicely fills the centre of the frame while leaving plenty of space around the edge. The A630 has guidelines on the screen which makes it easier to keep things straight. I then open the image in Photoshop and use the 'rotate', 'skew' and 'perspective' options (Edit>Transform>) to correct any slightly distorted geometry (use the 'grid' option to make it easier to line things up). Finally I crop right down to the cover edge and resize into a square image. It's not perfect but it's close enough.

  • THANKS for the detailed instructions - I'd never believe that a cam photo can come out (or at least be manipulated into s'thing that looks) so undistorted! It must be taking time, of course, but I'd paraphrase what you wrote to "It's not perfect, but it definitely looks like it."

  • Hi!

Could you please scan or photo that Anarcrust's triangle sign (maybe from a 7" if you have it). My friend is bugging me to get it since he got a chance to make a big sticker for his van and I cannot find any decent sized pic of it on the web since they're pre-web band as I like to call it.

I never bought any of their stuff, so I am bugging you.

    Thanx in advance.

  • No problem mate, give me a day or two (or whenever the sun decides to shine again) and I'll take a pic.

  • The incentive you provided found some good use - I photo'ed & posted a fold-out 7" that wouldn't go into the scanner (another dutch band, in fact...). Love the way this blog is going, too - take care! (Malisha Old 666 - the Anarcrust sign can be found in good resolution in the Anarcrust 7" compressed file that Phil is linking to.)

Hi there... I'm Ed and used to play guitar in Anarcrust... fun to read that someone wants the triangle as a sticker on his bus... i got it tattooed on my arm so if he runs me over on the highway my arm might stick to the front of his car!
By the way...2 studio albums were released and one live one and a 7". Also some cassettes with demo's and stuff...Then various tracks on compilation vinyl/cd's and tapes.... so there you go...
    Happy downloading...
