Thankyou ever so much for this and also taking the time to set up such a cool site! Was lucky enough to see The Subhumans at Brighton in '93 or was it '84, I was only a nipper then. If I remember rightly, Dick shouted out to the crowd "we're gonna play for ever" or something like that. All I remember it was the best gig ever. Spent the whole gig on a speaker stack, oh would love to do it all over again...Cheers, Gordo

Superb stuff - thanks for this, reminds me of getting those live Bluurg cassettes through the post many moons ago, often accompanied by a few words from Dick. A good companion piece to the new album, too.
Cheers from Hong Kong,
marky.

Age and memory are inversely proportional - sounds like you went to the first one in '98! The cover band were Hell's Bells and I think they still pop up in Briz and the surrounding area now and again. My mate Molly dressed up as Angus, complete with home-made cardboard guitar, dropped a pill and danced through their whole set. Remember kids - don't try this in the real world.

Most of my weekend was spent up to my elbows in sand, facepaint and playdoh, as I shared responsibility for 'organising' the kids play area. Actually, the kids were generally much better behaved than the adults.

Another mate filmed the whole thing on a pro camera and edited it down to an hour's worth of VHS madness. I still watch it occasionally and marvel at how a bunch of misfits, reprobates and the borderline insane manage to pull these things off.

Cheers for this!

Went to an alternative World Cup thingy, probably the same one I think. Subhumans played in the evening as did an AC/DC cover band who I remember going down a storm. My mate had a fit while we were there and ended up in Yeovil hospital. I finds me way to Yeovil and he's already back at the site. Had a great night though! I didn't play football though. ;)

Hey Old Punk thanx for the live stuff. So jealous that u get to see them live, i live in new zealand and so not much hope of eva seeing them live, hopefully i'm wrong about that. Always remember being 16 (am 39 now) at my first proper job and getting my mum to go to a local record shop and buy me an LP (anyone would have done :) ) and she ended up getting The Day The Country Died. Here's me at work phoning her to describe the lp, wot the cover looked like, what the singer looked like, was shocked that he had long stringy hair and glasses! Had only heard "No" and thought Dick would look all tough and mean! Shows not to judge people on their appearance, but i was young and foolish! Loved the band eva since! Thanx again and have a great time at the subhumans gig, lucky bugger!
