Free Noise #19

Artist: Culture Shock
Title: Go Wild + All The Time!
Source: CD LP
Bitrate: V0 VBR
Running time (h:m:s): 00:54:49
Size (mb): 94.5
Label: Bluurg Records
Year: Original vinyl - 1986 / 1989, CD comp - 1995

Go Wild:
1. Punks on Postcards
2. Go Wild (My Son)
3. Messed Up
4. Six Foot Rooms
5. Ten Per Cent Off
6. Circles
7. Mother's on the Phone
8. All (Messed up) Together

All The Time:
9. Countdowns
10. Twenty Questions
11. Upside Down
12. Time It Takes
13. Four Minutes
14. Northern Ireland
15. Northern Ireland (Dub)
16. Onwards

These two releases straddled either side of 'Onwards & Upwards' and round out the Culture Shock collection (minus a couple of demos). They were originally released on vinyl, but I've used the CD version for this upload - Treeman asked if I had the rest and this was the quickest way to do it (i.e. I'm a lazy bastard who couldn't be arsed ripping the vinyl right now). You'll have to make do without the life-affirming crackles and pops and settle for squeaky clean this time. And I've not had time to do the artwork photos either - it's cold and dark ouside and natural light works much better than flash. You'll just have to wait. Oh, the hardships I make you endure.

OP's opinion - Go Wild): Four
OP's opinion - All The Time: 5 - Five

Hi dude, I grabbed this a bit back and I'm overdue to say thanx...I was writing to Dick at the time and bought the record, so it's good to have it digitally. Cheers, Greg.

  • So good I named a blog after it. I was going to post this myself after Treeman requested it a while back. It's difficult at times thinking what to post when you know you can still get hold of something and like and appreciate what the artists have done or are still doing. I find this dilemma worse with DIY stuff rather than major label stuff. It's hard to know who's for and who's against. Nice to know Dick's for it. Shit I'm ramblin.....
    Cheers

  • John, I didn't notice that the CS stuff had just been 're-released' on CDR! I'm with you on this one - I don't have a prob with sharing major label or out-of-print / rare as pixie shit recordings, but I generally don't share stuff from indie bands / labels that are still flogging the discs and who need the support. In this case, I think I'd still share the CD - I'm guessing that Dick has made it available again because of requests from punters who don't / can't do filesharing, not because he wants to make more cash from it (although four quid for a CDR seems a bit steep...). That and the fact that the band disappeared a looooong time ago!

Anyway, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, this is from the mp3 section of their website:

Sorry but due to the popularity of the mp3s being downloaded we've been incurring excess bandwidth charges every month, which were costing us quite a bit, so I've taken an executive decision and scrapped the mp3 page.

I suggest you just go and take a look at the filesharing sites, there's plenty of stuff on there, and if you like it go out and buy it or catch us next time we roll thro your town.

So I don't feel in the least bit guilty about this one :D

Shit! You are a legend - I have been looking to listen to this pretty much since I were there (way back when!) and seeing it live about the UK's S-West...

Phark, memory lane for me...I did have a vinyl at some point; so yeah, have paid the once! LOL.
