Hailing from Edinburgh in Jockland, Archbishop Kebab were a very strange brew indeed. Their particular melting pot combined a confrontational anarcho-punk perspective with a sound that's half The Ex, half Gogol Bordello and half crusty new-age traveller skank. Beyond that, you'd probably have to invent a new genre, although you could also add the Dog Face Hermans to it as they share a similar oddball approach to the whole kaboodle. AK were around for quite a few years but I never got the chance to see them (or find any more of their vinyl output, hint hint). Which is a shame 'cos they sound like they'd really kick up the dust live. Still, this record manages to put a very big grin on my face whenever I play it. There's a good chance you'll find it does the same to you too.

heard this lot on Peel years ago, and apart from 1 track on a 1-in-12 comp, never heard or saw anything by them, so huge thanks for this

Excellent band live, I saw them twice when I was 14 back in Edinburgh. At least one of the best gigs of my life at the old Music Box.

Sadly, I don't have anything by either band (and Badgewearer are new to me). I'll ask around and see what I can find.
As for more Scots, it's fairly thin on the ground in my pile of vinyl - a bit of pagan hardcore, a healthy dose of Oi Polloi and a smidgeon of AOA. I'll see what I can dig out when I next rummage through it.

cheers for this man i just discobered your webbsite today by accident my typing is hite now due to the intake ofg alcohol and all the new music. anywho i had never heard of this band but if i had they would have been up there with culture shocck pogues tofu love frogs junkmans choir. some of these tunes could have been recorded nowadays i mean the production is pretty good i would like to know where it was recorded .

The disc was recorded at a place called Red Spot Studio in Cubbington, on the edge of Leamington Spa. Google doesn't throw up any more info, so I'm guessing it's either no longer in existence, it's changed name and/or it's moved.
