Hummus – cheap, easy, quick, nutritious and a vegan sandwich staple! What more could a hungry punk want? Makes a decent bowlful for a few people to share
Throw everything into a […] Rice is a very versatile thing and makes a good base for both summer and winter meals. Risotto takes a little bit of effort during the cooking, but it’s nothing too excessive for the soft n’ creamy end result. You can easily vary the ingredients to change the experience quite dramatically. This particular version is quite ‘meaty’ without being too heavy, with a lovely fresh piquancy from the other bits and bobs. Serves two people with good appetites.

Another one of my favourite micro-labels, Suburban Home, is offering their latest release, Ghost Buffalo’s ‘The Magician’, as a free download to the first 200 people to click the link in the post. They’re keen for people to hear it, hopefully like it, spread the word, and maybe buy a copy and encourage others to do so too.
As I’ve probably said more than once before, I like to get my music delivered through the post. Not only does it mean I usually deal direct with the label or band, it’s cheaper, there are often freebies and, most importantly, I love getting a parcel through the letterbox when I least expect it.
The other day I spotted what could well turn out to be the bargain of the year, an annual sub of £18 for six issues of Profane Existence (via Active Rebellion, their UK distributor). The last time I picked up a copy of this, it was still a newspaper. Now it’s a proper magazine with a glossy full-colour cover artfully containing the acid-free paper inside (for the collector obsessives amongst us).
